IV Clover Collection by Lars Nilsson for Klässbols
The IV Leaf Clover Collection a design by Lars Nilsson for Klässbols Linen, the Swedish mill that has been continuously producing linen textiles since its founding in 1920. Today a proud supplyer to the Swedish Royal court and Nobel Banquet.
Lars is very honored to work with the historic mill, having grown up with linen tablecloths and towels from Klässbols, as his mother collected designs by Astrid Sampes and Viola Gråsten textiles which he still uses. Today he continues to collect various linen such as bolster stripes, which is one of Klässbol's specialities.
“It has been wonderful to get to know Klässbol's Linen Weaving Mill from the inside and together with master weaver Urban Johansson, to see the possibilities that exist technically in combination with the designs I have made," says Lars.
After the first meeting between Lars and Dick Johansson of Klässbols, the goal became create a new timeless design that would work well as table linens as well as textiles for upholstery and cushions.
The four leaf clover, a symbol of faith, hope and luck is also the plant that Lars has collected since he was little, which he pressed and dried in books. It was this childhood collection that provided the starting point for the IV Leaf Clover Collection, with additional inspiration from Louise de Vilmorin (author of many books like Coco Chanel's 1957 biography and whose family was famous as France's leading seed producers since 1746). It is a family that symbolizes botany and gardening; "I imagine Louise de Vilmorin decorating her home today using the textiles I have designed for Klässbols," Lars adds.
In addition to the Four Leaf Clover motif, Lars has designed a pattern called Damson inspired by plum tree branches, also woven at Klässbols. The Damson pattern is exclusively designed for lampshades manufactured at Bergo in Eskilstuna for Nittsjö Ceramic, with a launch to take place in 2022.
The IV Leaf Clover Collection is available in a sustainable 100% linen as tablecloths, napkins and towels in different colorways.
In addition, it is also produced in 50% linen mixed with 50%wool, suitable as upholstery or for cushions.

Biography
It was his passion for the arts and techniques that led Lars Nilsson to come to Paris to study design at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture. His talent and desire to create quickly led him to work with Christian Lacroix after his first steps in Haute Couture at Chanel.
More than fashion itself, Lars is interested in the structure of clothes, materials, and techniques. This pronounced taste for shapes, colors, and the way to make a garment come alive will be found in the different creations that he creates today, especially in his fabrics and decorative objects. His career in the fashion industry has developed successfully in several major fashion houses in Paris and New York, notably Dior, Ralph Lauren, Bill Blass, and Nina Ricci. His desire to create does not stop with these important collaborations.
For some time, Lars has been looking for other projects that will gradually become part of his life's work. Lars Nilsson's creations (textiles, handmade carpets, ceramics, or art objects) show an acute sense of color and reflect his virtuosity in tracing shapes and his talent for designing volumes. He plays marvelously with striped patterns often interpreted according to the materials, their density, without fearing to give them relief or to twist the proportions.
Many awards have crowned his achievements including Vanity Fair's Best Dressed list in 2001 to New York Magazine Designer of the Year 2001. Wall Street Journal Best in Show 2019 with the VASA rug for Vandra Rugs and Elle Decoration Best Textile Award with Capri Collection for Svenskt Tenn (2019)
His Scandinavian origins are obvious, they are reflected in his creations that are always respectful of rare materials and research that combines the aesthetics and use of objects. It is nature that inspires Lars' creations, he favors delicate and luminous colors, those of flowers and gardens. Lars, curious walker and artist traveler, lives between Paris and Rättvik in Sweden.
